Several years ago we had a severe ice storm here in Rochester, NY. Many households here were without power for 2 or 3 days or more. Nine months later there was a substantial rise in the local birth-rate. Those kids are still referred to as "ice storm babies". So I guess, here locally at least, when people can't fire up their Altecs, they find other ways to make beautiful music together.....
As a kid, growing up in the 60's in a tiny "hick" town, we often had power outages during thunder storms etc. Us kids used to look forward to them---played (home made) games by candlelight or in the dark, or sat on the porch and watched natures light(ning) show, etc. I suspect that many kids today, being more technologically oriented in these times (not necessarily always a bad thing), would have a different take on a power outage.
As an "adult", if the world was sent back to the "stone age" due to man made or natural disaster(s), I'd miss the technology we have now (and would really miss the electricity needed to listen to my Altecs!) but due to my upbringing I'd be ok with fireplace heat, candlelight, bicycle transportation, my acoustic guitar, etc. I'd probably shed a tear when I ran out of guitar strings, however--not sure if I have the stomach to make cat gut strings (here kitty kitty!)......
Exactly--while certain times of day the Hostboard is slow and/or seemingly so slow as to be inoperable, it is fast other times of day -- whereas other sites I frequent are fast 24/7. I would agree that it's "strictly a Hostboard problem".
How much are the Hostboard owners paying you to say that?!
